Saturday’s XFL games were mainly focussing on offense. Sunday games, on the other hand, were mainly defensive driven with the exception of Josh Johnson. The Los Angeles Wildcats dismantled Cardale Jones and the DC Defenders 39 -9 in Los Angeles yesterday . Jones completed only 50% of his passes for a pathetic 103 passing yards. He threw 4 interceptions and was sacked 3 times. The Wildcats defense showed no mercy all throughout the game, with the exception of the lone touchdown scored by the defenders.
Josh Johnson, on the other hand, was brilliant, throwing for 3 touchdowns, completed 72% of his passes with 278 yards. No interceptions, solid protection and a great defense and special teams showed the L.A. Wildcats potential. Martez Carter led the running game which did not gain a lot in yardage, but showed beautiful dives and high-flying acts by the rookie out of Grambling State. Carter rand for 2 TDs and caught a pass from Johnson as well. Tre McBride also caught two touchdowns for the Wildcats. It was a straight up BEAT DOWN!
Go Wildcats.
The New York Guardians took a page from the Vipers of last week and played the worst game of their 3 game stretch. McGloin and Williams were forcing passes all throughout the game, leaving a ray of light for Luis Perez to score the only passing touchdown for New York. The St. Louis BattleHawks took advantage of that poor play and capitalized off of it with a 29-9 victory. Outside of the Houston Roughnecks, the BattleHawks have shown the most grit, even in their loss to Houston last week. Their ground attack was stronger on offense than their passing game. They are my logical prediction to come out of the East versus the Roughnecks in the Championship. But there is still 7 games to go.
